Established some 20 years ago, Coffey International Development Ltd is a consultancy specialising in facilitating and delivering government aid around the globe. Their services are used in some of the poorest countries in the world, as well as in disaster hit areas and war zones such as Iraq and Afghanistan.

They aid the creation of infrastructure and help develop communities to bring lasting social change, allowing people to improve their lives by giving them the tools to help them get back on their own feet.

The company has been working with Fish Partnership, who mainly deal with Coffey’s auditing, for much of that time. “I wouldn’t be surprised if it was right from the beginning – it’s certainly well in excess of 10 years,” said Jeff Pudney, the company’s finance manager for Europe and the Middle East.

“I wasn’t at the firm when it started, so I wouldn’t know the reasons for choosing Fish, but the reason we are still with them is because their service gives value for money and their advice is very appropriate to what we do.

“Fish are exceptionally efficient. We work to very tight timescales and they blend in with those timescales extremely well.”

Although Jeff’s line of work doesn’t usually lend itself to networking with other business people, he says he wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Fish Partnership if he were asked for the name of a good accountancy firm.

“It’s very much about the professional service, the continuity of staff and the value for money – those are the three main reasons for being with them,” he says.

“I’m continuously under pressure to make changes to our auditing services, but every time I can defend our use of Fish on those points. I can rely on them to do what they say they’re going to do. We’re working with people who really understand our business, and that’s what it’s all about.”
