Fish Partnership Trainee Set for Journey of a Lifetime
A trainee accountant at High Wycombe-based The Fish Partnership is preparing to head off on the trip of a lifetime.
However, James Painter hasn’t just booked a couple of weeks off to lie in the sun – he has been granted a six-month sabbatical to travel through India, south east Asia and Australia.
The 25-year-old, who joined The Fish Partnership nearly three years ago, will set off on his journey accompanied by two friends at the beginning of October, ensuring he will be back behind his desk in time for the start of the new tax year in April 2011.
During his travels, James plans to visit India, Thailand, Malaysia and Singapore before heading over to Australia for the last part of his adventure.
James, who hails from Beaconsfield and has a university degree in financial computing, said: “I’m very pleased that the firm have let me do this, giving me the opportunity to go travelling.
“It’s something I’ve always wanted to do, especially at this point in my life before I’m tied down by commitments such as mortgages.
“I’m looking forward to seeing all the cultural sites, such as the Taj Mahal. I’m still finalising my plans, but I might do some voluntary work while I’m on my travels and will look at projects I can get involved with.
“It’s something I’m very much looking forward to.”
Martin Sheehy, partner at The Fish Partnership, said: “While we’ll obviously miss having James’s talents at the firm for six months, we agreed that this was a fantastic opportunity for him.
“We wish him all the best on his travels and look forward to hearing all about his adventures on his return.”
