Student Accountant joins Fish Partnership’s team

High Wycombe-based Fish Partnership is helping their latest recruit swap archaeology for accountancy as they welcome a new addition to their audit team.

Richard Lane, who graduated this year with a degree in archaeology, is used to dealing with the past, but his focus is now fixed firmly on the future as he joins Fish Partnership as an audit and accounts trainee. He is already studying for his professional qualifications through the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants.

Richard said: “I did some summer work in the CFX department of a local bank and found out that I enjoyed the type of work carried out in the financial sector. I had already decided I wanted another qualification after my degree as many employers expect you to have more than a degree.

“Archaeology is very statistical and analytical in a similar way to accounting so there are a number of transferable skills I can use in my new career.”

Martin Sheehy, managing partner at Fish Partnership, said: “We are very pleased to be welcoming Richard on board.

“His background may not be directly related to accounting, but his enthusiasm and dedication to learning about the job have proven he has what it takes.”
